Aesthetic bonding is used in certain carefully selected cases to reshape individual teeth, close very small gaps and repair any slight defects, such as small chipped areas.

The bonding material is chosen to match the colour, translucency, and consistency of your natural teeth and is then built up in layers using one variety of the material to replicate dentine and a second layer to replicate enamel. A translucent layer can be added in certain areas to create a natural looking enamel edge. The material is moulded to the desired shape, before being set in place using a curing light. This is carried out over one appointment.

The technique can also be used to create composite ‘veneers’ which means less preparation of the tooth is required.
